History: Invited by Bishop Ambrose Galbiati of Jalpaiguri, the Salesians first came to Siliguri in 1961. The minor seminary opened at Salugora, some 5 kms from the town, was requisitioned by the military in the wake of the Chinese aggression (1962). The purchase of the present land therefore, took place in 1965. On 31 January 1968 the first two Salesians Fr. Venia and Br. Joseph Paranthara came to reside at the present place. The initial plan of starting an agricultural school did not materialise since the land was unsuitable for the purpose. A proposal to start an academic school was accepted. Fr. Paul Taverna was entrusted with the task of finding the finance and starting the school. On 15 January 1973 the new school was started with seven boys in class 7. In December 1976 the first batch of five students wrote ICSE Examination. ISC course with Science and Commerce streams was started in June 1988. There is a Night School as well for about 350 underprivileged children. Today there are about 1400 boys benefiting from the High school section, and over 700 poor children from the neighbourhood apostolate.
