History:
The Salesian work in Polsondamore took off in 1973 when Fr. Gimenez purchased a plot of land at Polsonda to reach out to the far-flung Santal villages. Residing at Berhampore he supervised the construction works at Polsonda. In 1975 the parish of Polsonda More dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima was officially bifurcated from the Azimganj Parish. The Parish House and Namuncura Hostel for boys were blessed on 20 February 1977. The parish Church was blessed on 2 April 1978. On 8 December 1979, the Sisters of Charity (SCCG) set up a house adjacent to the Parish in order to help in the pastoral work, especially in the care for women.

1981 saw the setting up of a non-formal training centre (Carpentry) and in 1984 a TB cure centre was established. A dispensary was built in 1985. The Church had to be rebuilt due to serious damages and a new Church was completed in 2003.

The Salesian Community runs the Parish with its 20 sub-stations, a boarding for boys and a Primary School. The hostel with 400 tribal boys is also the largest boarding in the Province. The primary school educates about 350 poor children. Developmental programmes through educational sponsorship, village schools and construction of low cost houses are also undertaken. The parish is a vibrant one with many associations like that of Don Bosco Past Pupils, Our Lady of Fatima, Youth Association, Sodality for women, St. Vincent de Paul Society and Legion of Mary.
