History:
Don Bosco Liluah was founded on 8 December 1937 with a solemn inauguration of Don Bosco High & Technical School and the blessing of the parish of St. John Bosco. Don Bosco Liluah has grown to its present size and complexity over the years with the addition of the various other sections according to the needs of the people around. The Institution celebrated its Diamond jubilee in 1997 and has successfully completed the renovation and expansion of the technical section and the reconstruction of the School auditorium.

DON BOSCO HIGH SCHOOL
The School department consists of the Primary School with 1092 students, High School with 1060 students and 11 & 12 section with 352 students. They are prepared for I.C.S.E and I.S.C. Examinations. Youth groups and clubs like YCS, LTS, Friends, Scouts, Literary club, Quiz club, Music club, Sports club, Nature club, Science club and Computer club give the students a learning experience outside the classroom.

Special coaching facilities are offered for interested groups of boys. Facilities being offered now are for Karate, Table Tennis, Music, Cricket and Football.

DBL participates in a variety of sporting and extra-curricular programmes in Kolkata and Howrah, as well as organizes programmes inviting the participation of other schools.

The Associations of Salesian Cooperators and Past Pupils are already engaged in a variety of HRD and Social activities. These associations are instrumental in propagating Don Bosco's ideals in the locality.

DON BOSCO TECHNICAL SCHOOL
Though the Technical School was begun primarily to cater to the residential students of the Anglo-Indian community, today it offers a Government-recognised ITI Course as well as Diploma course in Machinists' and Turners' trade. It also prepares students for Part I of the City and Guilds of London Institute Examination. It has about 73 students on its roll. With the upgrading and renovation of the Technical School, other vocational training courses are currently being introduced.

OTHER EDUCATIONAL PROJECTS
The Boarding caters to 58 Catholic boys from among the Anglo-Indian and Adivasi communities.

Even when the normal class hours are over, the work of education goes on through 'Don Bosco Night School,' which has 266 boys and 168 girls, studying up to Cl. VI.

The community looksafter the young boys and girls who are school drop outs/working, by offering the facilities to complete their secondary (Class X) or senior secondary (Class XII) examinations through the National Institue of Open Schooling (NIOS) It offers its services to over 300 boys and girls as it has an accredited centre of the NIOS .

There is also an Adult Education programme organized by the Past Pupils, which reaches out to 120 ladies and girls, - a two year course which will helps them towards a brighter future.

Spoken English and Computer classes for parents and others are organized occasionally.

IMA – ABACCUS training programe services are offered to young children of the neighbourhood.
A number of inter school and inter parish activities are conducted in the centre
The community animates the associations of the Salesian Cooperator and Salesian Past Pupils.

ST. JOHN BOSCO PARISH
St. John Bosco Parish, begun in 1937 to cater to the spiritual needs of the European and Anglo-Indian Catholics of the Liluah Railway Colony, has gradually grown to its present size. It has now over 2000 Catholics with Four sub-stations at Bhattanagar, and Joypur with regular Sunday services, and Chandmari, and Hindmotor catering to Christians from various backgrounds. Spiritual growth, developmental works and educational sponsorship of children and their families are the major activities of the parish.
