Story:
Don Bosco Krishnagar had its humble origin in 1928 when the Salesians were entrusted with the primary school of Sts. Peter and Paul, started by the Milan Fathers and attached to the Cathedral. It had a boarding of about 20 boys. The school was renamed as Don Bosco School in 1934. In 1936 the primary school was shifted from the Cathedral compound to the present Youth Centre Compound. With the hope of preparing the students for some jobs, Fr. Thomas Lopez started a workshop which would later develop into Don Bosco Technical School with carpentry, mechanical and tailoring departments. The Technical School was shifted from the Cathedral compound to its present site in 1939. The academic school received recognition in 1947 and was raised to the level of a High School in 1951. A three-storey building was built when Fr. Austin Guarneri was the Rector.

In 1964 the school was officially handed over to the Salesians by Rt. Rev. Louis Morrow, the then Bishop of Krishnagar. In 1969 the Technical School was affiliated to the N.C.V.T. In 1975 the High School was shifted to its present site. In 1972 a poultry farm and an agricultural farm were started to help in the maintenance of the boarding. The Higher Secondary School was transformed into a simple High School in 1973. In view of training the villagers in scientific farming an agricultural centre was begun in 1976. However, due to lack of Salesian personnel trained in agriculture, the farm and the poultry, which once were flourishing, progressively declined over the years.

Today:
Today the Institution offers formal education in school up to Class XII. The Technical School offers a two-year course in mechanical trades and carpentry, leading to the government recognized ITI certificate. It also trains young men to be fitters, turners, grinders, welders and tailors. Computer Education was begun in 2002. There is also a Boarding for Boys with 171 students, Orphanage with about 30 boys and an Association of Past Pupils. A few apostolic boys have been temporarily placed here from May 2005.
