Annual Youth Ministry Plan |
2005-2006
MAIN THRUSTS :
Youth Ministry core team will endeavour to initiate and implement in the province and in the local Salesian settings the Youth ministry model of animation and functioning in collaboration with the Provincial and the Council.
Youth Ministry Core team will meet monthly to plan, evaluate and monitor the Salesian Youth Ministry model of our Salesian apostolate in the context of our varied Salesian presences and apostolates and explore animation strategies.
Youth Ministry core team will work to animate and assist in various ways the local communities in the province as per the requirement of the Salesian Youth Ministry model (e.g. the formation and functioning of the local EPCC, the provincial and local SEPP and its functioning , the local annual plan etc.)
Youth Ministry core team will keep the Provincial and the Council informed of the functioning of the various sectors of animation under its care.
Youth Ministry core team will help the various commissions and sectors under its care to have their normal meetings and activities and help and animate them in whatever way required.
Youth Ministry core team will continue to explore possibilities to animate the confreres of the province on "the Salesian Youth Ministry - a basic frame of reference" (i.e. The Salesian Youth Ministry manual).
Youth Ministry core team will undertake the task of revising the SEPP of the province in the light of the OPP, the changed mode of the DBYAK composition etc.
EDUCATION & CULTURE
Provincial level:
1. Implementation of the DB DOC project for TEACHERS' TRAINNG as assigned for the first year.
2. Annual Training for all the newly recruited teachers in our schools run by the Salesian Family. (March)
3. Offer assistance to schools that require help to implement the revised version of the Service rules (personnel policy) (April)
4.The periodic meeting of the Education Commission as per requirement.
5. Follow up the meetings of the 3 sub-commissions (Technical, Delhi Board and State Board) of the Education Commission
6. Annual meeting of the SDBs working in schools. ( Pro. Calendar)
7. Annual meeting of the SDBs working in Technical Schools (Pro. Calendar)
8. Co-ordination of annual report from every educational institution.
9. Offer programme for the various groups in schools.
Local level:
1. Make a community plan for Faith formation / Value education in our institutions.
2. Annual Teachers' Training programme
3. Catholic teachers' animation
4. Monthly / bi-monthly Teacher' meeting
5. Annual training programme for non-teaching staff.
6. Students' animation programme for : Retreat, Education to Social Justice, Education to Integrity, Peace Education, Education to love and media education.
7. Career guidance programme for students.
8. Annual Planning and evaluation.
10. Report to be sent to the Education commission
SOCIAL COMMUNICATION :
Prov. Level Animation :
1. Implement the SPCSA directive on setting up BIS (Boscom Information Service) at the provincial level immediately.
2. Get 6-hour slot in the Young Priests Meet to train reporters to ensure news flow for BIS.
3. Use 6-hour slot for media education in Teachers / Catechists training programmes organised by DBYAK.
4. Launch Province website, by 31st January 2005
5. Continue PR and Interaction with mainstream media through DB DOC facilitation.
6. Produce VCD Version of Catechetical tools on the SACRAMENTS with province subsidy.
7. Make DB film (30 min. version) available to every NEW student in our English medium schools in English /Hindi / Bengali at Rs 75/-as part of the admission package.
8. Ensure more frequent publication of the province news letter.
Local Level Animation :
1. Do annual Media Training as per SHEPHERDS syllabus in Pre-novitiate (April), Novitiate (July, Post Novitiate: Kalyani (May) & Sonada (July).
2. Facilitate 6 hour media education slot for teachers in our schools taking time
during the annual Teachers Training programme.
3. Procure available resources for media education and media library.
4. Promotion of Salesian Bulletin magazine and Catechetics India journal
5. Provide material to the communities for celebrating the World Communications Day.
PARISH MINISTRY, CATECHESIS & EVANGELIZATION
Provincial level:
1.Training programmes for Faith Formators to be organized for the following categories of trainees :
Catholic Teachers, Sunday School Teachers, Religious and Diocesan Scholastics, laity in parishes, catechists-lectors-choir units-litury animators Etc. The courses could be on Vatican 2, CCC, Bishop Morrow's "My Catholic Faith".
2. Catechetics India : Tri-monthly Journal
Continuing the publication of the same and improving its quality and circulation and making it more and more relevant for our times and need.
3. Provincial catechetical Day:
This day will be organized on the 2nd Sunday of November 2005, by Catechetical and Mission Commission. This year it intends to conduct 4 preliminary zonal events followed by a Provincial level event to be held at a convenient place. The Theme would be "The Eucharist is the source of our Christian Joy and nourishment".
Local level :
1. Each Community will draw up a pastoral plan whereby the process of catechesis and Evangelization will be carried out in the day to day living. The same will be submitted to the Provincial co-ordinator, for better planning and co-ordination.
2. Each community will seek to enhance the skill and dedication in Sunday catechesis and teaching of religion through participating in training programmes and workshops.
3. Catechetical resource persons could be used to draw up plans and effective organization of novenas and feast days.
4.To make better use of the audio-visual materials made available through Nitika or other centers as catechetical tools.
VOCATION ANIMATION :
Province level :
1. A confrere to be appointed as Zonal co-ordinator to represent and to co-ordinate the Vocation animation in each region with possibly a sub-commission that will meet prepare materials and collaborate with the Provincial Co-ordinator. The various zones are :
- other Bengali zone
- othe Santali zone
- other Nepali zone
- other Hindi zone,
- other Coadjutor Brothers
2. Publicity :
Materials in stock for animation, publicity will be widely distributed in the form of:
- Fliers & folders in 5 languages
- Salesian booklets in 5 languages
- Other camp materials
- Advertisements will be placed in vernacular Catholic magazines
- Participation in the Vocation Exhibition organized by dioceses and congregations.
- A Vocation animation kit will be prepared and given to each community to assit animation at the local level. The kit will contain a VCD on Don Bosco, a poster of Don Bosco and session materials for vocation animation.
- Prayer cards with short intercessory prayers will be printed and distributed for use in communities.
- An animation package will be prepared and distributed for the World Day of prayer for Vocations.
3. Personal correspodence by the Vocation co-ordinator with those who contact the vocation office. Vocation co-ordinator will also visit parishes and schools and address boys on Don Bosco and Salesian Vocation and participate in various Youth camps of parishes, deaneries and dioceses.
4. Vocation Orientation Camps and recruitment through personal contact from
Bengal, Sikkhim, Jharkhand, Orissa, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Chattisgarh, and Bihar.
5. Home Visits
- All candidates selected are visited in their home setting
- Enquiry and consultation with their parish priest, Catechists etc.
6. Follow up visits : Vocation promoter pays a monthly visit to the aspirantates.
7. Widen the recruitment base in order to obtain more number as well as quality.
Local level :
1.To promote vocation, have a more vigorous animation at the level of local communities. A confrere in every community is to be entrusted with the duty of Vocation animation at the local level.
2.Strengthen "prayer power" for vocations at the local community level and attract the young through our own witnessing and enthusiastic living of the religious commitment and regular community participation at prayer and fraternal life.
3. Increase our reach to youth in all our local communities in a variety of forms especially through animation programmes, renewal programmes etc.
4.Talk more about vocations in general and Don Bosco and the Salesian way of life specifically and seek to attract them to our way of life?use audio-visuals etc.
YOUTH AT RISK ( YAR)
Provincial level:
1.To make a survey of the YAR ( Youth at Risk) situation regionwise ( Kolkata-Howrah, Nadia, Murshidabad, North Bengal) which will help us approach our apostolate for the YAR in a much more scientific way. The survey could be done through some experts in this line.
2.In our work for Youth at risk, seek a joint meeting and move towards possible collaboration with the FMAs.
3.To initiate a meeting / get-together of the various NGOs working for the Youth at Risk in view of promoting net-working and collaboration.
4.To produce a documentary on YAR situation regionwise to create awareness and evoke suitable response.
5.To bring out a Bengali handbook on effective education and management of the Young at Risk, to help in our dealing with them.
6.To initiate and provide live-in experience of working for the Young at Risk for a considerable period of time for our confreres in formation during their formative years in order to evoke enthusiasm and interest in working for YAR.
7.To provide continuous formation in the Preventive System for our lay collaborators with the help of the HRM wing of the Youth Services.
8.To provide continuous formation programmes for the Yough at Risk (boys and girls) attached to our various centers, on Emotional Maturity, Sex Education, Hiv-aids and other relevant topics with the help of the HRM cell of the Youth Services.
9.To set up and streamline into 4 zones of local day to day administration and management of all our various centers of YAR regionwise and to establish a centralized office in the YAR set up itself for Finace Generation, control, networking, general supervision and inspection of all centers.
Local level:
1.Every local community will initiate programmes for Youth at risk in the context of their locality, moving out into the neighbourhood itself with various initiatives for health and hygiene, medical assistance, contact classes etc. in addition to whatever services are being done within the local setting so far.
2.To take greater interest and wider participation of all confreres, in the existing neighbourhood apostolate that is being undertaken by each local community.
3.To enhance the quality of our service for the Young at Risk in each of our YAR sub centers through better organized Salesian presence and quality supervision by the lay collaborators.
GROUPS EXPERIENCE :
Provincial level :
1. Seminar for Leaders of Groups and Movements of various local communities and follow up during the year. (July)
2. Implementing the DB DOC project for HRM, Career Guidance, Job
lacement?assigned for the 2nd year.
3. Organize the Programme for the Teenage Leaders in the City and suburban Schools to motivate them to become agents of social change. (September)
4.Preparation and publication of the Sudent-Teacher periodical "YOUTHINK"
5.Fomation for Youth Pastoral, & Salesian Youth Movement, Preventive System, Games for Growth at the Post Novitiate formation level. (January-May)
6.Slots for Youth Ministry Delegate for animation session at the Annual meetings of Rectors & Parish priests, Young Priests and Brothers in Practical Training.
7.To organize animation programmes for the various boardings on Motivation, How to study and How to prepare for examinations.
8. To organize training programmes for the students of our technical schools formal and non formal as to how to prepare a bio-data, how to face an interview and group discussion and work towards placements.
9. Periodic Course on Preventive system to be organized for the staff of our Ashalayam Centres on a continual basis for 10 to 15 staff members at a time in order to keep them acquainted with our system of education.
Local level :
1.Every community to decide on and give responsibility to one of the confreres to be the Youth Ministry co-ordinator for the community and have a community plan of animation of the groups and movements with budget allotment.
2.To appoint animators for each of the groups functioning in the institution and co-ordinate the activities closely, arranging for animation pragrammes from time to time.
3.To organize animation programmes / camps to take care of areas of formation like the leadership qualities, career guidance, education to love, peace education, education to integrity, education to justice, media education etc.
4.Think of possibilities of animating the Catholic youth through special stress on the YCS.
5.To organize at least once a year a training programme for all the leaders of the various groups and to facilitate their participation at the Provincial or national level programmes.
6.To plan and organize a meaningful retreat programme during the year for all the Catholic students.
7.To organize animation programmes for boarding children on Motivation, How to study and How to prepare for examinations.
8.To organize training programmes for the students of our technical schools formal and non formal as to how to prepare a bio-data, how to face an interview and group discussion.
